History
The building of the Rusovský penzión was built in 1965 and it served as a local pub and a restaurant. Back then, it belonged under the Consumer Cooperative “JEDNOTA SD Bratislava mesto”. It was the only restaurant in Rusovce at that time and the people started calling it “Britva” (Razor). The former members of the SĽUK (Slovak Folk and Artistic Collective) as well as the locals used to come here very often, and they usually spent a lot of money. This is how it obtained the name “Britva”, since the pub literally “shaved” the people of their money. The people nowadays still remember this name. This means that if you ask somebody what is “Britva” and where it actually is, almost everybody, but especially those who were born earlier, will tell you that it is a pub in Rusovce.
The restaurant was open until the so-called Velvet Revolution in 1989. After, it worked for a couple of more years in the same way as before 1989. The building has been completely reconstructed in 1995, when the current owner rented it from JEDNOTA. This was the first time when a solid wall separated the areas of the restaurant and the pub. This created two independent facilities- a pub and a restaurant. The most important and the biggest reconstruction of the restaurant and the pub had been performed after the year 2002, when the current owner bought the building, and it became his private property. This was the time when the name has been changed from “Britva” into “Rusovská reštaurácia”.When the people, who remembered “Britva” from before 1989, came there after the reconstruction, they could not believe that they were really at the same place. This is also the case today. In spring 2004, a construction of a superstructure had begun, and at the end of the same year, a structural had been finished. Two years later, in May 2006, a newly-built pension was opened and the name of the whole building was changed into “Rusovský penzión”, as we know it today.
